Depiction:
A replica of a public draw well, which served as a source of water for the population until the introduction of a central water supply in Nuremberg (first in 1885).

History:
During civil engineering work in 1979, the shaft of the former draw well at Tiergärtnertorplatz was discovered.

The Altstadtfreunde (Old Town Friends) took on the restoration of the above-ground parts.

This meant that the remains of a badly dilapidated courtyard well in the Erlenstegen district of Nuremberg, which also served as a model, could be used.

The Altstadtfreunde had the roof of the well constructed based on examples of village wells.
