Depiction:
A lamplighter on his way to work.

In his right hand he holds the extinguishing rod. In his left hand he holds a small wind lamp.

The water flows from a spout beneath the fountain figure into a shallow rectangular basin.

History:
Located in the heart of the old town, the courtyard served as a meeting place for the lamplighters until 1922. It was from here that they set off on their rounds.

The fountain commemorates this centuries-old trade, which became obsolete in the mid-20th century with the introduction of automatic gas pressure switches.
